Praha - Centrum Chodov

Chodov, a mixed residential and business area to the southeast of Prague, is an ambitious large-scale development with shops, workplaces, housing, leisure facilities and public spaces. Centrum Chodov forms a vibrant new regional centre with a modern identity designed to evolve in relation to the changing needs of the future.

The shopping centre lies alongside the D1 motorway from Prague to Brno and is surrounded by business and large housing areas. Over 320,000 people are living within 10 minutes driving distance. The Chodov area is located in the southern part of the city of Prague and benefits from excellent bus/underground connections as well as the D1 motorway.

The total size of this project is 130,000 m² and it will be realized in 3 phases. Phase I consists of a modern shopping mall, food court and leisure centre with a possible development of 6,500 m² of offices. The shopping mall has 3 levels spread over 55,000 m² offering more than 200 shops, with brands such as Hypernova (Ahold), Zara, M&S, H&M, Hervis sport, C&A, Next, S’Oliver, Esprit, Puma, Nike, Datart, Benetton etc. This first phase has parking for more than 2,600 cars.

Phase II will create a lively city square and a new multifunctional building with areas for public services, sports facilities, offices and apartments. It will be connected to the mall by a new city square, which is destined to become the heart of the total development. The square will be surrounded by 50,000 m² of shops, restaurants and dwellings.

Phase III will be a further extension of 25,000 m² of retail and housing at ground and first floor levels as well as underground parking. Landscaping is a key feature of the project. The green in the surrounding area will be continued throughout the whole project. Fruit trees, areas of rough grass, terraced gardens and roof gardens are an integrated part of the concept.

Centrum Chodov, winner of the “Best Overall Development” prize, was opened in November 2005 in record-breaking time of one and a half year. As the biggest and most prestigious shopping centre in Czech Republic, Centrum Chodov became a dominant location of Prague 11.
