Ústí nad Labem - Fórum

Ústí nad Labem, the North Bohemia metropolis, is directly connected to the express highway D8 (from Prague through Dresden to Berlin in Germany) which inter connects the western border of the city. Some sections of the express highway are already in operation; the completion of the whole highway on the Czech territory is foreseen. The distance from Ústí nad Labem to the border crossing of Cínovec is 34 km. Ústí is also an important railway node with four railway stations that are intersected by international lines Berlin – Vienna and Berlin – Budapest – Beograd – Sofia (Baltic – Orient).

With its population of 120,000 inhabitants Ústí nad Labem is the ninth biggest town in the Czech Republic. The number of inhabitants in the catchment area is approximately 600,000 people.

Ústí nad Labem is mainly an industrial city, featuring chemicals- and food industries as well as engineering. Thanks to the university, quite a lot of young people live there. The Ústí region, an area of 5,335 km2 and its population of 820,000 inhabi­tants, is a popular tourist destination due to the natural beauties of the Czech Highland, Elbe Sandstnoes and Natural Park Eastern Erzgebirge. A lot of cross-border German tourist “shoppers” head to this region through the frontier crossing at Cínovec. The project will be located in downtown Ústí nad Labem, adjacent to the Church of the Ascension of the Virgin Mary with the leaning tower.

The two- floor centre will offer 30,000 m2 of retail with numerous shops, cafés, restaurants and cinemas.

The realization of the project will create a new square surrounding the church, by which the whole area will regain its historical identity and the direct connection of the present time with history. It will offer a pleasurable as well as a functional environment, not only for the inhabitants of the city, but also for its visitors.

Opening is foreseen in the Autumn of 2008.
